Braided biscuits - Sicilian recipe

🍅 Ingredients:
1 kg flour 00
300 g sugar
300 g lard
3 eggs
150 ml latte
a spoonful of honey
10 g ammonia for sweets
1 sachet of vanillin
a pinch of salt

🧑‍🍳 Preparation:
Mix the sifted flour on a pastry board together with the sugar, salt, the lard reduced into small pieces, the eggs, the honey, the ammonia and the vanillin.
If the dough is excessively hard and dry, moisten it by pouring a little milk until a uniform and compact dough is obtained.
Shape the mass into a sphere, line it with food film and leave it to rest in the fridge for an hour. 
After this period of time, remove small quantities from the dough and stretch them with your hands until they form sticks 7-8 mm thick and between 20 and 30 cm long each. 
Now fold the sticks in half so that the apexes adhere and wrap them in the shape of a pigtail.
Place the braids on a buttered baking tray, brush them with a little egg white or milk and bake them for around 20 minutes at 180°C in a preheated oven until golden brown.
Let them cool down Sicilian braids and serve them for consumption.
