Sicilian Easter biscuits with hard-boiled eggs.

⏲️Prep time: 1 h
⏰Cooking time: 20 m
🧏🏻‍♀️4 person

500 gr flour
2 whole eggs
100 gr butter (or lard)
150 gr caster sugar
90 gr milk
1 packet baking powder
For decoration:
6 boiled eggs
2 egg yolks
milk for brushing
coloured sugar sprinkles

Place sifted flour and baking powder in the bowl of a stand mixer.

Add sugar, softened butter cut into pieces, milk, and eggs.

Mix for a few minutes using a dough hook. Alternatively, you can mix by hand by creating a well with the mixed powders on a work surface and adding the other ingredients in the center, then mixing well until you form the dough.

Continue to work the dough by hand on a floured surface, forming a ball, wrapping it in plastic wrap, and letting it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface with a rolling pin. Use a cookie cutter to give the biscuits the shape of doves and baskets.

Let the hard-boiled eggs cool, and place one egg on each biscuit.

Use leftover dough to decorate the biscuits.

Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, brush them with beaten egg yolk mixed with milk and decorate with colored sugar confetti.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 20 minutes, until golden brown.
